Classes Offered
Lean Production:
This is an introductory, eight hour accelerated learning workshop that conveys the benefits of using LEAN tools and principles. The class includes a hands-on waste finding exercise and also demonstrates the power of one piece flow (vs. batch production). The five principles of LEAN, the Eight Wastes, and the LEAN tools are introduced using both presentation and simulations. The course is designed to empower employees with the fundamentals of LEAN.
Lean Service:
This is an eight hour class that provides an overview for LEAN in an office or non-manufacturing environment. Students will learn the five principles of LEAN, the Eight Wastes and the LEAN tools that are used to minimize or eliminate waste. These Concepts are introduced using both presentation and simulations. This workshop is highly interactive and incorporates hands-on simulations to teach LEAN concepts, small group discussions, project examples, and case studies from actual member companies. This course provides all the fundamentals of Lean allowing the employees attending to bring back the knowledge necessary to begin making changes in the workplace.
Intro to 5S:
This half day class is designed to teach participants how to apply the first 3 S's as well as the more difficult 4th and 5th S's through standardization tools and audits. The class includes hands on simulations as well as learning presentations.
Prerequisites: Lean for Manufacturing (Intro to CI) or Lean for Office
5S Facilitator:
5S Facilitator is the beginner level class designed to teach students how to lead 5S efforts in your facility (basic projects related to workplace organization). Students will be taught how to scope, plan, execute and sustain a 5S initiative by working on a small group project with students from other companies under the guidance of an experienced coach. This is a one day event with a report out.
Prerequisites: Lean for Manufacturing (Intro to CI) or Lean for Office & Intro to 5S
Mentors also needed!
Prerequisite to mentor: 5S Facilitator Certificate (Mentors must be present during the class)
Intro to VSM:
This class is a full 8 hours and goes through the full value stream mapping process. Students will learn how to capture and visually report and process from beginning to end then go through and identify which steps create value verses waste. A future state map will also be created after streamlining only the valued processes. This a fully interactive hands-on course designed to teach identification of steps and their values (or lack thereof). Following this class each employee will be able to VSM any process.
Prerequisites: Lean Production (Lean for Manufacturing) or Lean Service (Lean for Office)
Problem Solving:
Half day class covering everything from the basics to the intermediate steps of problem solving utilizing Lean methods.
Prerequisites: Lean Production (Lean for Manufacturing) or Lean Service (Lean for Office)
Kaizen Facilitator:
This course is designed for those who will be tasked with leading Kaizen/Rapid Improvement events. This program is currently offered twice a year. Students will be taught how to identify opportunity, scope, plan, execute and sustain a Kaizen initiative by working on a group project with a team of students from other companies under the guidance of an experienced mentor. Technique is based on the Toyota 10 Step Method.
Prerequisites: Lean for Manufacturing (Intro to CI) or Lean for Office, Intro to 5S, 5S Facilitator, VSM Training
Mentors also needed!
Prerequisite to mentor: Kaizen Facilitator Certificate (Mentors must be present during the class)

Please make sure you acquire this code prior to the date of the class, or you may call the offices at 281-9026 and we will tell you that day’s code.
From Interstate 95 & Interstate 10:
Head south on I-95 S. Take exit 344 for State Hwy 202/Butler Blvd.
Turn left at SR-202 E / Butler Blvd. You will be exiting right, so get in right lane on Butler immediately. Take the Salisbury Rd exit toward Belfort Rd. You will be u-turning under the overpass, so get into the center lane to avoid other exits. You will need to keep left at the first fork (don’t turn right onto Salisbury Rd southbound here), then keep right at the 2nd fork (don’t take the ramp back onto JTButler), then left at 3rd fork (to u-turn under overpass, rather than get onto Belfort). Once you’ve gone under the overpass, get over to the far right as soon as you can. Exit right onto Southpoint Blvd. (there is an obelisk there that says Southpoint). Pass through first stop sign. Destination will be on the left directly across from an empty CSX parking lot.
From I-295 S:
Head east on I-295 S. Take exit 61B to merge onto I-95 N toward Jacksonville. Take exit 344 for State Hwy 202/Butler Blvd. Take slight right to merge. You will be u-turning under the overpass, so get into the center lane to avoid other exits. You will need to keep left at the first fork (don’t turn right onto Salisbury Rd southbound here), then keep right at the 2nd fork (don’t take the ramp onto JTButler), then left at 3rd fork (to u-turn under overpass, rather than get onto Belfort).
