Value Proposition
The Jacksonville Lean Consortium offers its members training in several Lean principles, and the application of those principles in their locations, with resulting benefits that greatly exceed the cost of the membership fee. Some of the JLC offerings include:
• Introduction to Continuous Improvement
The JLC offers 1-2 sessions a month and member companies can send up to three (3) people per session on a first come, first serve basis.Host companies are entitled to send seven people to this event.
• Facilitator Certification Programs
The JLC currently offer two levels of facilitator training and certification. The 5S Facilitator is the beginner level class designed to teach students how to lead basic projects related to workplace organization. This is a one day event with a report out. This program is currently offered three times a year.
Kaizen Facilitator is the intermediate level course designed to teach students how to lead more advanced Lean projects. This program is currently offered twice a year. Both courses include classroom training and project work with 3 to 4 students from different organizations working with an experienced mentor. Each company may register up to two students for each session on a first come, first serve basis.
• Lean Leader’s Meeting
This half day session takes place once a month at a member facility. It is an opportunity for those leading Lean in their facilities to come together and share best practices and lessons learned. The JLC also conducts a “waste walk” at the member’s facility and hears about the host company’s progress. At the end of the session, each participant provides feedback to the host company. Attendance by at least one representative from each member company is mandatory.• Networking
JLC members are wonderful about pitching in to help each other with Lean events and sharing ideas and resources.• New Member Help
The JLC staff and Board members do a good job helping new members start off on the right foot. They will come to your facility and help you formulate goals and objectives. The JLC can also bring in more experienced members to help the new members “Value Stream Map” their process.• Other Workshops and Events
Over 200 events were held in 2007. These events included featured speakers, symposiums, special interest groups, and classes on various Lean topics taught by JLC members and many, many hands on events. Most of these events are at no cost to member companies. Some events require a nominal fee to cover speaker and/or catering expenses.
