Les, Michelle, and four other cross-functional leaders at Barnabas participated in our value stream mapping event on May 20th. The group selected the end-end process of their resale store (“New to You”) as an area to target with Lean methods. They knocked it out of the park in one of the best VSM events I’ve been a part of. They identified the major steps of the process and examples of the 8 wastes at each step in a collaborative brainstorming session. They proceeded to interview the store’s staff, asking them for their observations and improvement ideas, while calculating the cycle times and overall lead time of the end-to-end process. The team completed a project A3 that outlined their improvement plan and targeted future state.
