Cortex Systems Gemba Visit

Had a great experience last week visiting Cortex Systems, a Lean Jax member and startup electronics component manufacturer based in Jacksonville Beach.

Spent the full day on the floor with the team (the Gemba!), followed the work from start to finish, and even shared lunch with them.

They are an operation genuinely focused on quality, and that shows in how the work is structured and how seriously the team takes every step in the process.

They were welcoming, open to every question, and genuinely receptive to outside perspective. That kind of access and openness is not something you take for granted.

It’s refreshing to see a startup thinking about lean principles and building that culture early.

A lot of companies wait until things are broken before they ask for help. Cortex isn’t waiting, and that mindset is exactly what separates operations that thrive from the ones that just get by.

Looking forward to providing them ongoing support as they grow.
